Although I do feel weak today has been a good day so far!

I saw a lot of improvements from yesterday in the way I have been feeling. My day started with a 45 minute long walk to my dads, which is from 44th ave all the way to New Brighton middle school (around two miles). I know that I am getting better because I took that same walk just 2 days ago and felt terrible after words….I have improved so much in only 2 days, and although I have had to spend most of the afternoon laying down recovering, it feels great to get some exercise and a bit of sun.

After about a month of suffering I finally figured out that my eye sight is the reason I am getting nauseas and having migraines.

Glasses help somewhat but I need to find a permanent solution…

Again today my homie Ben came over and we had an intense juicing session, we made a super healthy vegetable juice of

  • Carrots (4lbs)
  • Celery (1 ½lbs)
  • Dinosaur kale (10 stalks)
  • Collard Greens (10 Stalks)
  • Curley Parsley (25 stalks)
  • Beet Root (1/3rd of a medium sized)
  • and ginger (Thumb Sized)

This recipe makes around 6 (1 cup) servings

…and you know what., it tasted really good!

I am incredibly thankful to have a friend like Ben, who has been by my side guiding me to a more nutritious diet. He is a great healthy lifestyle coach and is not just telling me what to eat, but is also teaching me why by breaking down all the cool nutrition science behind of the changes I have made. Without him as a driving factor in getting my diet healthy I don’t know if I would have been able to make drastic the changes I have made so far.

Although it has been a big change I am starting to feel the difference and can really tell how much of a benefit Vegetable juicing has been. Unfortunately fresh vegetables can be expensive and hope that I can find a way to help pay for the ingredients. Right now I am borrowing Ben’s Juicer but it has been pretty inconvenient so far…I really need buy my own juicer.

If you or anyone you know has a juicer for sale, let me know!

We are going to start measuring my progress so that I can track my health over the next few years. I have lost more than 20lbs in the last month and am down around 120lbs which is really scary for me to think about.

All I can do is stay positive and keep taking healthy steps towards recovery.

I have 3-4 years of Chemo ahead of me and need all the support I can get, this is a long road but with my friends, family, and your support I know that I will pull through.

This is not the blog of a kid with Cancer…this is the blog of someone getting healthy, but it is hard to stay positive when I think about how my life has changed.

I really do miss everyone from school and it is hard not seeing my friends all the time.

Big thank you to my girlfriend Noelle who has been typing this blog post for me, she has been a great secretary allowing me to dictate though her what I want to say.

And finally I owe a big thank you to everyone that has been supporting me through this, it has made all the difference knowing I have the support of so many good people.

If you can please leave a comment below I love hearing from you guys and I promise to keep you guys updated on my recovery.

  1. Hang in there, Jeremy. You probably don’t even remember me, but I remember an adorable little boy who was very active and shy, with the sweetest smile in the world. I loved your mom and dad, and your sister played with my daughter. I consider your grandmother a dear friend to this day even though we never speak. Stay strong and focused, kid. Keep your thoughts positive and when you find yourself falling into negative worries or feelings, remember the love you are surrounded by and hold on. Then lift up for them. And when you are exhausted beyond measure, don’t be ashamed to lean on the shoulder’s of a friend or loved one. OK? There are people watching, talking, praying, and loving on you from a distance – and you don’t even know them! X&O’s from an old family friend.

  2. Noodles, if you want we have a juicer collecting dust in somewhere in my closet. I’ll see if I can find it and if I can it’s all yours.

  3. Jeremy just a note to let you know I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you received the card I sent you. You are strong. Love the juicing.

  4. Hi Jeremy!

This is Rishon, we haven’t seen each other in a looooong time. I don’t even know if you remember me because you were pretty young last time we spent time together. I think the last time we saw each other I had come over to your Dad’s house to hang out with Karsyn and we ended up playing volleyball with you in the back yard 🙂

Anyway, I’m so happy to see that you’re juicing!! In the past few years I’ve had this total health epiphany after watching a few movies and reading a few books that swayed me. A lot of the info I take in has to do with a vegan/macrobiotic lifestyle, and now I’d say I’m vegan about 75% of the time. The reason I’m telling you this is because one of the movies I watched is called Crazy Sexy Cancer. It’s pretty girly because the subject/filmmaker is a woman but it was super interesting watching her journey. She documented her trials and errors trying to help her body heal through nutrition after being diagnosed with an extremely rare form of cancer. Here’s a link to her website – Kris is an amazing success story. I think you can rent it on iTunes. http://kriscarr.com/about/#film

This is a link to another great list of resources that comes from the website of a woman named Elissa Goodman. She’s a certified holistic nutritionist who essentially helped cure herself of lymphoma through nutrition. Insane, right? http://www.elissagoodman.com/resources.php

I know some of these people’s philosophies sound a little nuts, but their successes make me think that there’s really something to be learned. After 3 years of taking in a ton of info on nutrition (especially Juicing!) and lifestyle, i hope to become an integrative nutritionist later in life.

I’m definitely going to keep my ears open to find out if anyone is selling a juicer near SC. I’m hoping to get one for myself after I graduate in June. I really really hope that we all can get together before I graduate from UCSC and move back to LA. I’m so glad to see that your spirits are so high 🙂

Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or just want to chat. I’d love to hear from you. rishon.roberts@gmail.com

  10. Jeremy,
I don’t know you personally, but am a family friend of the Neff’s and have known Noelle most of her life. I was deeply saddened when I heard about your situation, and have been praying for a speedy recovery. I started following you on Facebook, and enjoyed the updates your father posted. I was so excited when you were able to be released from the hospital to recover at home. Home is where the heart is!! You have amazing & supportive friends and family, and I look forward to watching you beat this and become strong and whole again!!

    Best Wishes,
    Renee 🙂

  11. Jer, Since Matt and I returned from Kauai this week, we have been drinking our juice mix with ginger and frozen fruit, yum! You liked it alone, well I will send some your way soon to add to this delicious mix of fruit & veggies you have here. We love you and are proud to call you family! Kristy & Matt

  12. Jeremy you are my inspiration, and inspiration to so many others. God has a plan for you. I would like to keep in touch with you my friend. Janice. (Dr. Kondo’s office)

  13. I dont know you personally but my daughters, Jordan and Jayce Davis know of you from AHS. I just wanted to say that I am praying for you. Juicing is a great idea. I heard cancer loves sugar so try to stay away from it! …I hope you feel better soon and can go back to school and be with your friends.
